A c\u00e9lja az<strong>,<\/strong> hogy vonz\u00f3v\u00e1 tegye a Katolikus Egyh\u00e1zat mindenki el\u0151tt. Szent VI. P\u00e1l p\u00e1pa szerint az egyh\u00e1z az evangeliz\u00e1ci\u00f3\u00e9rt van, ez pedig csak az\u00e1ltal val\u00f3sulhat meg, ha sorsk\u00f6z\u00f6ss\u00e9get v\u00e1llal azokkal, akikhez a k\u00fcldet\u00e9s sz\u00f3l. A p\u00e1pa joga az\negyetemes zsinat \u00f6sszeh\u00edv\u00e1sa, felf\u00fcggeszt\u00e9se, \u00e1thelyez\u00e9se, feloszlat\u00e1sa, a\nrajta val\u00f3 eln\u00f6kl\u00e9s (szem\u00e9lyesen vagy megb\u00edzott \u00fatj\u00e1n), az \u00fcgyrend megszab\u00e1sa\n\u00e9s a hat\u00e1rozatok j\u00f3v\u00e1hagy\u00e1s\u00e1ban val\u00f3 r\u00e9szv\u00e9tel, tov\u00e1bb\u00e1 a hat\u00e1rozatok meger\u0151s\u00edt\u00e9se\n\u00e9s kihirdet\u00e9s\u00fck elrendel\u00e9se.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Az\negyetemes zsinaton d\u00f6nt\u00e9si szavazati joggal r\u00e9szt venni a hat\u00e1lyos egyh\u00e1zjog\nszerint mindazon, de csak azon p\u00fcsp\u00f6k\u00f6k joga \u00e9s k\u00f6teless\u00e9ge, akik a p\u00fcsp\u00f6k\u00f6k\ntest\u00fclet\u00e9nek tagjai. A legf\u0151bb egyh\u00e1zi hat\u00f3s\u00e1g megh\u00edvhat m\u00e1sokat is, akik nem\np\u00fcsp\u00f6k\u00f6k. Szerep\u00fcket az egyetemes zsinaton ugyanez a hat\u00f3s\u00e1g hat\u00e1rozza meg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Egyes\nvid\u00e9kek p\u00fcsp\u00f6kei kezdett\u0151l fogva tartottak tan\u00e1cskoz\u00e1sokat, s ennek mint\u00e1j\u00e1ra\nh\u00edvta \u00f6ssze Nagy<em> Konstantin<\/em>cs\u00e1sz\u00e1r a p\u00e1p\u00e1val\negyet\u00e9rt\u00e9sben 325-ben az 1. nagy egyetemes zsinatot Nice\u00e1ba. A protestantizmus\nterjed\u00e9se miatt \u00fclt \u00f6ssze 1545-ben a tridenti zsinat, melyet mindv\u00e9gig p\u00e1pai\nleg\u00e1tusok vezettek. Vatik\u00e1ni Zsinat volt 3000 r\u00e9sztvev\u0151vel,\nahol megfigyel\u0151k\u00e9nt m\u00e1r a keleti \u00e9s protest\u00e1ns egyh\u00e1zak k\u00e9pvisel\u0151i is jelen\nvoltak.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ezut\u00e1n G\u00e1rdonyi M\u00e1t\u00e9 besz\u00e9lt\nm\u00e9g a Veszpr\u00e9mi Egyh\u00e1zmegy\u00e9ben tartott zsinatokr\u00f3l is, majd v\u00e9g\u00fcl r\u00e1t\u00e9rt az\n1993-ban, Szent II.
